Monday Memo: Printers, Trivia and the Idea Showcase

Because of the work we are doing with 20% Time and Project Based Learning, we are submitting a grant to get a 3D Printer on team. We have done some research on which would suit our needs while still being cost-conscious. We will be putting a grant on donorschoose.org later this week for a 3D Printer. We have lined up some of the donations already but there will be a little ways to go to reach our goal. For the first week, we receive a doubling code so that all money (up to 100.00 per donation) can be doubled (50.00 becomes 100.00 because of the doubling code). We ask for your help in reaching our goal.

The 3D Printer will be used for making prototypes of kids' classroom projects and creating original artifacts for kids' 20% Time projects. We are also going to participate in a multi-district art project (narrative cube art created on the 3D printer) that will be on display somewhere in St. Louis this summer. On Team Harmony, we are all about creating.

As we may have indicated earlier this year, many students cannot get their fill of gaming. It is beginning to impact their grades. If you look at your kiddos' grades, you'll see who has not been turning in their work. There are many students who have not had the best start to second semester. We are making a push to get all missing assignments in by Friday. We would like to ask you to encourage your kiddos to use the laptops for good and not evil.

The 20% Time Idea Showcase will be on the morning of February 4. The showcase will be in the cafeteria from 8:45-10:15. We hope that many of you can come by to see some of the amazing work the kids have done on their projects so far.

In February, Hixson Middle School is sponsoring a Trivia Night. Click here for more information.
